Important Ride Safety Information-
Group Ride Etiquette: Pass other riders on LEFT only, not the right; Do NOT overlap wheels; Passing on the left please announce "on your left"; NO "snot rockets please; Stopping in a pace line, please pull over to the right while using hand signals.
Helmets are required on all rides.
Please remember to bring spare tube, patch kit, pump, cell phone, route map, food and sufficient water. Always let club members know any time you decide to alter the route during the ride. Always ride with a club member, never alone.
Bicycling can be a hazardous activity because we ride on roads with cars.
Please be aware, be alert and always look twice before turning or passing. Communicate with other cyclists regarding road hazards. Only pass other cyclists on the left and only if there are no approaching vehicles.
For great information on urban cycling safety, see here. Be careful out there! And remember, cycling is always fun!
RULES FOR E-BIKES:
The Channel Islands Bicycle Club (CIBike) allows the use of electric bicycles that are pedal-assisted, i.e. Class 1 or Class 3 e-bikes,. Only Class 1 and Class 3 e-bike riders are covered by CIBike’s liability insurance. Pedal assisted e-bikes do NOT have a power-on-demand throttle.
Riders of Class 1 and Class 3 e-bikes must follow the rules within the California Vehicle Code. (See CVC 312.5 and CVC Article 4 (commencing with Section 21200) of Chapter 1 of Division 11.) This includes following the rules of the road that apply to both standard bicycles and ebikes.
E-bike riders must adhere to CIBike riding guidelines and safe practices; with particular attention during group or paceline riding, to riding at a speed consistent with other cyclists.

Moorpark Bike Rides (Eastern County)-
The Moorpark Bike Rides group ventures into the eastern side of Ventura County. This group is meant to be social and slower in speed as we search out a destination to refuel in the middle of the rides. Rides depart every Saturday from Moorpark and the 3rd Sunday from Camarillo. Contact Mike Stewart for questions.
PCH Randos-
Randonneuring is non-competitive, long distance cycling. Camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring. If you’re looking for more of a challenge than your local century or double century ride, please consider joining us. For most brevets, we do have a sweep vehicle. We believe we have some of the world's most scenic riding at our front wheels. We would like you to join us for a ride!
The Year-Rounder Program-
The Year Rounder is a great way to set annual riding goals and stay motivated to keep riding. You can make it as competitive or as relaxed as you like. This challenge is all about consistency. To participate, simply complete a metric ride (at least 62 miles) each month or 4 full American Century (100 miles) within the same calendar year. If you miss a month, you can make it up by riding an extra metric ride either the month before or after the missed month. At the end of the year, if you’ve completed either the monthly metric rides or four 100-mile rides, the club will recognize your personal achievement! To join the challenge, you’ll need to register or re-register at the beginning of each calendar year. Look for a registration email with instructions at the start of the year. We look forward to seeing a full slate of participants every year! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Diane.
