Bicycle Advocacy
CIBike members are active and productive voices for the improvement of infrastructure and safety for bicyclists. We primarily focus on Ventura County. However, because bikes travel, we also work with bicycle advocates and governmental representatives in Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles County, Sacramento, and Washington, D.C.
CIBike representatives have been selected to participate in a number of Advisory Groups to Ventura County and cities within the County.
We are proud of our role in the improvement of bicycle facilities in Ventura County and plan to continue the push for better, safer, and more inclusive active travel and recreation opportunities.

How to report roadways and bike paths that need maintenance?
** Caltrans Maintenance Request: https://csr.dot.ca.gov/
This address will work anywhere in the State of California. The maintenance report will require pinpointing the exact location of the roadway problem.
A terrific feature of the map is that it will not allow you to pinpoint or report a problem on roads that aren’t the responsibility of Caltrans.
So, if you don’t know what agency manages a road that has problems, start with the Caltrans map. If your maintenance request is accepted you can expect and e-mail response within days.
** If the problem is not on a Caltrans roadway (and not within city boundaries), the County would be the next logical choice.
Ventura County Public Works: https://www.vcpublicworks.org/rt/tsd_om/
** The Ventura River Bike Path has three different responsible organizations: City of Ventura Parks and Rec, Ventura County Parks and Rec, and the City of Ojai.

Friends of the Santa Clara River Bikeway and Walking Path
The Friends of the Santa Clara River (FSCR) have been working to make the Santa Clara River a place for biking, walking, cultural and environmental education. the Santa Clara River, the longest free-flowing river in southern California, runs from Canyon Country, through the Heritage Valley of Ventura County, to the beach., Unfortunately, the river is inaccessible and under-appreciated.
CIBike has supported grant efforts by the Friends to further their vision of ensuring the long-term protection and appreciation of the Santa Clara River.

League of American Cyclists Bronze Award-
Congratulations to the City of Ventura for their selection as a "Bronze Award Winner" by the national League of American Cyclists as a Bike Friendly Community on June 12, 2017! And a high hi-five to Leslie Ogden for getting out the word as over 50 club members showed up for the ceremony.
Seaward Avenue Green Lanes Project-
On June 4, 2017 the City of Ventura conducted a Grand Opening Celebration for their completion of the "'Green Bike Safety Lanes" on Seaward Avenue over Highway 101. So grateful that the city recognizes the need for more bike safety projects. Thanks to CIBike Members Wendy, Patrick, Derek, Toby & Leslie for attending the great event.
Ventura County Cycling Project Support-
Once again, CIBike rallied to the defense of cycling in Ventura County. And it worked!
Twenty-some CIBike members came to support two important improvements for cycling in our area.
1. We got a unanimous vote in favor of Cycle Cal Coast, a joint Santa Barbara - Ventura effort to improving cycling infrastructure both for tourists and for locals.
2. We got a commitment from Public Works to pave shoulders wherever possible.
Plus we got a surprise third:
3. We got a agreement from the board to do their best to fund ALL the prioritized bike improvement projects. This vote was unanimous and is a clear commitment by the Board of Supervisors to make Ventura County bike friendly and significantly improve the availability of paved bike lanes connecting our cities.
