As a common courtesy a good percentage of riders, when passing a fellow rider working on a bike on the side of the road, will ask something like “are you okay?” Most often the issue is a flat and the issue is under control and no help is needed.
While riding on Telegraph Road I managed to get a flat when a wood screw pierced my back tire. While fixing the flat, 3 riders rode past on the opposite side of the road. When I looked up I saw 2 of the riders were wearing CIBC shirts. I didn’t recognize them. I’m glad I didn’t need help, but my reaction was - anyone wearing our shirt is representing the club and should be willing to help a fellow rider.
As a representative of the club I believe asking riders with mechanical issues if help is needed promotes the club. Next time you are wearing a club shirt be a good representative - if you pass a rider working on their bike ask if they need help!
