Damaged roads can present serious hazards to cyclists. Our members have found that if we do report problems (especially reports from multiple members) we can make a difference. The appropriate local entity has a stake in keeping us safe as they have liability associated with roads in poor condition. However, they may not realize where dangerous locations are and can use our help to identify roads that need maintenance. 

If you don’t know what agency manages a road that has problems, start with the Caltrans map. 

State Roads

Create a Caltrans Maintenance Request

The maintenance report will require pinpointing the exact location of the roadway problem. A terrific feature of the map is that it will not allow you to pinpoint or report a problem on roads that aren’t the responsibility of Caltrans. If the location is not on the Caltrans map then go to county or city level.

If your maintenance request is accepted you can expect and e-mail response within days.
