CIBC receives recognition from OPD Chief Williams
By Margaret Mathews
On June 2, Oxnard Police Chief Jeri Williams awarded the Channel Islands Bicycle Club a Certificate of Recognition as a Partner in Public Safety. The club's grant to the police department will help fund the Oxnard Neighbors United Project (ONUP) that focuses on bicycle safety programs for neighborhood youth. Accepting the award are Grant Coordinator Norman Schiele, Treasurer Patrick McDonald, and President Dan Mathews. During the presentation, Chief Williams noted that the annual Cool Breeze Century Ride is the main fundraiser for the club's grant awards.
That was historic. LUX Development Cycling Team's Brandon McNulty, 1st Stage 1 Hillclimb Time Trial, 1st Stage 2 Road Race Solo for 3 laps no one in the picture, GC Yellow Jersey, Green Sprinters Jersey, Polka Dot Climbers Jersey, White Best Young Riders Jersey and he wanted a new GoPro so he won the camera sprint prime at this years Cat 2 San Dimas Stage Race. I have nothing to add but thank you to all of LUX's sponsors and it is a very special privilege to watch and support this young man along with the rest of our LUX team members. -George Chester

3 Foot Law: Get the Word Out
The Three Feet for Safety Law that CalBike worked to push through went into effect on Tuesday, and the news media seem to be just as excited about it as we are. So far, we’ve counted 26 articles in media outlets statewide! We are delighted: an enthusiastic media response is the key to educating motorists and bicyclists about the law -- and this law can only succeed if people know about it!
