See the Itinerary below for our Channel Islands Bike Club trip to the Buellton/Solvang/Santa Ynez/Los Olivos/Los Alamos/Lompoc area of the "Wine Country of Santa Barbara."  Base of operations is Flying Flags RV Park Campground at (805) 688-3716, Buellton, California. About 70 minutes from Ventura! So come for the weekend or even just one day!!! You can reserve an RV campsite or tent site or local hotel in the area. It all works out for a wonderfully fun, beautiful and social weekend.

ITINERARY/ACTIVITIES:

FRIDAY: October 29th:  

2008 Bike Touring to Buellton:In 2003 two clubbers biked from Ventura to Buellton & 2004 three clubbers did it, while seven biked in 2005. 2006 it rained, so no trekkers that year.  In 2008 & 2009 two bikers did the route. Sleeping bags, tents, etc. can be transported to the camping area! 

 

Dinner:  6:30pm for drinks and 7:00pm for dinner at River Grill, 150 Alisal Road, Solvang, 1-805-688-7784(updated October 26th). This year RSVP's are a MUST by October 25th for tables for the club members! Contact Patricia Matthews or cell  phone # 805-479-2949 to RSVP. We must have reservations for this place, so RSVP please. Also, please bring CASH!  It is easier to settle the bill at the end.
 
 
SATURDAY: October 30th:

Breakfast: 7:30am Ellen's Danish Pancake House, 272 Avenue of Flags, Buellton,688-5312. Just a 200 yard walk from the campground.

2009 Ride & Lunch:  8:30am sharp at Flying Flags Campground entrance. The Ride for the day will be Santa Ynez Canyon Circle "Route Slip", "Route Map" ,lunch at Cafe Quakenbush and a return to Buellton for wine tasting.

Dinner: 6:30pm at Flying Flag Campground for a "Club Pizza & Salad Dinner." Bring your favorite side dish, dessert or beverage for the club members to feast on tonight.  So come join the fun. PLEASE BRING A LAWN CHAIR!!!! Ruth & George will be hosting at site #347.

From George "I made our reservations for our Trailer at Flying Flags Campground today.  We are reserved for site #347 on the Mosby row, which is the same site that Mike Steward had last year.    So we can plan to have Pizza at the campground site again this year.  We'll most likely put a CIBC jersey as a flag designating our campsite.

 

If someone else is bringing their trailer, Flying Flags (Local Reservation number 877-240-1244-  Barry was contact) is going to temporarily hold 2 spaces next to our trailer for other club members. If someone else also is planning on bringing their trailer or RV, if they give my home phone number 805-650-5958, that will help the reservation desk put them next to our space." updated 9-26

Activity: 8:00pm, Chumash Casino  3400 E. Highway 246, Santa Ynez, 1-877-Chumash. (this is an option)
 
 
SUNDAY: October 31st:

Breakfast: 7:30am at Ellen's Danish Pancake House,272 Avenue of the Flags, Buellton,688-5312. About 200 yards from Flying Flags Campground.

2009 Ride & Lunch:  8:30am at Flying Flags Campground entrance. Check here for the about 55 miles for the "Windmill & Waterfall Adventure"  "route slip".  and "route map" Lunch can be had anywhere in neighboring Lompoc.(Starbucks suggested). An easier and shorter ride of  "Waterfall & Windmill Romp"  "route slip". and "route map" can be done by going to Nojoqui Falls and back for about 25 miles(Lunch in Solvang, try the Bulldog Cafe, check the walls for your favorite pro cyclist)!

Flying Flags Campground at 688-3716 ($22-26/day) for tenting on the grass with restrooms, showers and pool included!  RESERVE ONLINE SOON!  You may also bring an RV, ask for a spots across from the "grass tenting area."

Highway 246 in Buellton, directly behind the Flying Flags Campground. Just walk right through a gate to reach us all. Also, directly across from Andersen's Pea Soup Restaurant! AND, this hotel was seen in the recent movie of "SIDEWAYS!"  WOW!
